FocusOS Guard — the browser add-on Made by GGshikhar WHAT IT IS FOR -------------- Without this, FocusOS sees your browser as ONE thing: either every site is allowed during a locked session, or none are. With it, FocusOS sees individual tabs — so leetcode.com can be your work while youtube.com is not. If you study in a browser, this is the difference between the lock being useful and being annoying. INSTALLING IT (Chrome, Brave or Edge — about two minutes) ---------------------------------------------------------- 1. Open a new tab and go to: chrome://extensions (Brave: brave://extensions) (Edge: edge://extensions) 2. Turn ON "Developer mode". It's the switch in the TOP RIGHT corner. 3. Click "Load unpacked" (top left), then choose THIS folder — the one holding this file. 4. Open FocusOS. At the bottom of its first screen is a pairing code and a copy button. Copy it. 5. Click the FocusOS Guard icon in your browser's toolbar (you may need the puzzle-piece button to find it), paste the code, and press "Save & connect". It should say "Connected to FocusOS". That's it — you never have to do this again. IF IT DOESN'T CONNECT --------------------- "FocusOS is not running" Start FocusOS first. The add-on only connects while it's open. "FocusOS refused the code" The code was mistyped, or FocusOS has generated a new one. Copy it again from the app's first screen. Your browser says developer-mode extensions are a risk, every launch That warning is Chrome's standard nag for any add-on not installed from its store. You can ignore it, or leave the add-on out entirely — FocusOS works without it. IS IT SPYING ON ME ------------------ No. It sends the list of your open tabs to FocusOS on your own computer (127.0.0.1, which never leaves the machine), and only when FocusOS is running and holding the matching pairing code. It can close a tab when you tell FocusOS to. It has no other powers, and there is no server anywhere. The whole thing is four short files sitting in this folder. Read them.
